singing up from their roots sweet sap to branch and leaf
sunlight and rain upon bark and birch
ravens nesting in their arms
words are ancient spells codes odes and oracles
syllable and consonant cluster on the tongue
cascading from the open mouth
sunlight and rain upon their skin
this is why the ravens sing
